M6229
M6229 is the low anticoagulant fraction of heparin, which is fractionated from heparin sodium.
Working mechanism & efficacy
M6229 is negatively charged and effectively neutralizes positively charged toxic extracellular histones in the vascular compartment at much higher dose levels relative to what is feasible with regular heparin, therebynot enhancing the risk of bleeding. In vitro M6229 has been proven to neutralize the toxic histone effect. M6229 has demonstrated efficacy in multiple animal sepsis models (mice, rats and pigs). In the Histoseps clinical study in sepsis patients a significant reduction in multiple pro-inflammatory cytokine serum levels relative to baseline has been observed as a result of a 6 hour infusion with M6229.
